This Week in Kindergarten!


Richelle Scott came to visit us on Monday.  She sang a beautiful song in her language.
She shared lots of information about the indigenous people of Manitoba.
We learned many new things and are eagerly awaiting a special TREATY DAY, that will take place at our school on Friday, May 26th.  Information regarding the Treaty Day will be sent home early next week.

These last few weeks we have been learning about people that help us at school, at home and in our community.  These are drawings of people that help us at home.

We also illustrated a sentence in our spring booklets.
On Friday, we had Bus Ridership.

Once again, the children practiced getting out the emergency exit at the back of the bus.

Due to the shorter school week both groups 1 and 2 may bring Show and Tell on Tuesday, May 23rd.  Group 3 will bring on Wednesday and group 4 on Thursday as usual.

This Week in Kindergarten!

The boys and girls continue to copy sentences in their spring booklets.

We have been learning all about paper this week.  The boys and girls had to find things in the classroom that are made from paper.  Our Mother's Day bags as well as the tissue paper and the card inside the bag are all made from paper.
Our spring booklets are made from paper.
The days of the week bears are made from paper.
The spring vocabulary cards are made from paper.
And this tree as well.
Later in the week, we had to try naming things from home, grocery stores and restaurants that are made from paper.
We also touched different types of paper and are learning the characteristics of paper: thick (épais), thin (mince), rough (rugueux), smooth (lisse), etc.
We did some problem solving activities on the SMARTboard.
We work hard in kindergarten and we PLAY even harder!
Always put on your safety glasses before building.

This Week in Kindergarten!


Counting sets of objects and printing the correct number neatly.
We remember to use a number line if we want a reminder on how to form the numbers correctly.
This group of children made a huge chain during play time.  It well all around the carpet.
Making Mother's Day cards for our mommies.
Practicing the spring vocabulary.  Where did Mme Godin hide the sticker?

Tracing 4 hearts on special paper.
The boys and girls are making special gift bags.
Today was the first day that the kindergarten students played on the big structure with the grade 1 and 2 students at recess.
The morning class are listening to the new playground rules.
We spent some time on the big structure all alone this morning in order to be better prepared at recess time.
The children were very excited to try out some of the climbing activities on the big structure.
The double slide was a big hit.
There is just so much more space to play.
The boys and girls have to listen very carefully to announcements at the start of the day to see when it is our day to play on the structure again.

There was lots of running and exploring new things.
Playing on the big structure means that we are one step closer to grade 1!!!
