TODAY IS PYJAMA DAY AND LITERACY DAY!  THE BOYS AND GIRLS MAY WEAR PYJAMAS AND BRING A "STUFFIE" TO SCHOOL AS WELL.  WE WILL ALSO BE PARTICIPATING IN MANY FUN LITERACY BASED GAMES AND ACTIVITIES IN THE SCHOOL!

This Week in Kindergarten!

The boys and girls started off the week printing the letter J.

We also played many winter themed games on the SMARTboard.

Placing the snowmen in order from the smallest to the biggest.

Practicing our positional vocabulary.  Le flocon de neige est sur le banc.  (The snowflake is on the stool.)

Circling the core of a pattern (le motif de la régularité).

Printing the number that comes after (après) a given number.

Counting the number of buttons on the snowmen.

We were practicing to name the fruit in French while playing a guessing game.

These boys made a garage and roads for the cars and trucks.  A bit of a construction zone, like the school's back yard.

Creating Lego stuctures.

One of our afternoon kindergarten families donated an extra set of Playdoh to the class that they had received for Christmas.   MERCI!!!

The children enjoyed exploring all of the many molds and other things in the Playdoh kit.

This week many of the boys and girls were making paper computers.  Very creative!

LITERACY DAY! - FUZZY BUDDY DAY!

Tuesday, January 31st is "LITERACY DAY/FUZZY BUDDY DAY" at École Assiniboine.  Students can wear their pyjamas and bring their favourite stuffed toy to school on this day.  Please make sure that your child's "stuffie" is small enough to fit in his/her backpack in order to ensure that the children do not lose them, drop them outside or forget them on the school bus.

We will also be having a special activity day focusing on literacy.  The activities will take place during periods 3 and 4 for the morning class and periods 5 and 6 for the afternoon class.  Students will be placed in "house" groups and will go from station to station to participate in a variety of fun-filled activities and tasks.

This Week in Kindergarten!

The boys and girls printed beautiful M's in their printing booklets, after having practiced them at home over the weekend.  BRAVO, LES AMIS!!!

Playing Roll a Pizza.  The first player to put all 6 toppings on their pizza is the winner.  Of course, the children are practicing the new words in French as they are playing.

Putting together alphabet puzzles from A to Z.

Creating and copying designs with coloured popsicle sticks.

Playing a winter themed memory game.

The children also completed the colour "rose" in their colour booklets.

These little girls made a house with a number 5 on the roof out of Lego.

These boys were cooperating and listening to each other's ideas at this construction center.

This Week in Kindergarten!

First day back at school, after Winter Break, the boys and girls were hard at work printing the letter N.

Discovery Bins this week, included, lacing cards.

Number printing on erasable sheets.

Playing a penguin counting game.

Counting and making patterns with cubes.

On Tuesday, we printed the number 5.

We also reviewed number recognition with this large group game.

Playing an alphabet game.

The children made white clouds "un nuage blanc" in their colour booklets, using cotton balls.

It was so much fun to be back in the classroom with all of our friends!

On Wednesday, we welcomed the boys and girls from Monsieur Charrette's class to our classroom.

The children had a great time meeting new friends.

We put all of their belongings together for the end of the morning.

Our friends from the other kindergarten room enjoyed exploring the toys and games in room 12.

It was a very busy morning.

We have been practicing new French words in class this week.  We will be opening a Pizza restaurant in the classroom on Monday.

Some of the students made signs for our Pizza restaurant.

Our restaurant is called  "J"aime la pizza" (I Love Pizza).

On Friday, some of the girls decided they would be "Canadian Girls" (les filles du Canada)!

Lots of parking for this special apartment complex!
