This Week in Kindergarten!

We started off the new week by decorating the first letter of our names.

The boys and girls used stickers, feathers, sequins, etc. in order to make their letters beautiful.

All of the boys and girls did a great job.  There are still a few letters not up on the bulletin board as some of the students missed school that day so we are trying to find the time to catch them up on this fun activity.

We continue to learn each other's name.  Everyone's photo is on the whiteboard along with their names.  We also continue to use the slideshow on my SMARTboard to further develop this skill.

Our red dot Qtip names are hung up in the classroom.

Learning new French words.

Together we name the item and then the child clicks on the picture to see if there is a yellow square hiding behind it.

This week we colored "les carrĂ©s” squares.

Trying so hard to color neatly inside the lines.

We started to practice our blue poem.

The children listened to a special song to celebrate the first day of fall! We also started to discuss the changes we are noticing outside during this new season.

Mme Godin has pushed our tables towards the back of the room so that we can safely sit together as a group on the floor. There are pieces of yellow tape on the floor to remind the students to keep apart.

More subitizing games on the SMARTboard.

Tracing the numbers from 1 to 5 and placing the correct amount of stickers on each finger.

Tracing and forming curves.

The morning class' letters.

The afternoon class' letters.

This Week in Kindergarten!

We started off the week tracing horizontal lines.

Les petits cercles rouges (little red dots).

We practiced reciting a poem called "Rouge".  The students had to colour the apple, tomato and cheeks red.  They also had to cut the letters that make up the word rouge and glue them on top of the matching letters.  The last part of the activity was to make a construction paper apple (la pomme).

Because of social distancing we are learning our friends' names on the SMARTboard.  We say "Bonjour" to our friends every morning.

Practicing to name the colours in French.  Each child has their own tennis ball when it is their turn to use the SMARTboard.

Playing with the toy garage.

We continued to explore the toys in the classroom.

Building with the small Lego.

Preparing meals in the kitchen area.

Some more Lego creations.

These little girls made a dog and a bird with the large lego.

Practicing to make lines and curves on our whiteboards.

The boys and girls ended the week tracing curves and colouring a rainbow in their booklets.

This Week in Kindergarten!

This was a very different first week of kindergarten for Mme Godin and all of her classmates.
We have been practicing social distancing and using our own personal supplies.

We explored many of the toys and games in the classroom.

We started off the week bringing individual bins of toys to our tables.  Mme Godin would then sanitize the toys and we would choose a different bin.

Groups of 2 students were allowed to play at the wooden garage station.

As well as at the dollhouse and the kitchen area.

                                                                 Individual lego bins.

All of the students were eager to explore the new materials in the classroom.

Don't forget to send a spoon if your child needs one for snack time.

                                                          Hard at work building cubes.

Using foam blocks to make the letters in his name.

Getting to know our new classmates.

When we enter the classroom, the children put on their indoor shoes, place their Take-Home ziplock bag on the table and hang up their jackets and backpacks on their chairs.  Everyone has an envelope with their name on to store their masks if they are wearing one and need a mask break.

                                                        Learning the word walk "marche".

We also practiced the words "saute" jump and "cours" run.

Playing counting games on the SMARTboard.

Practicing to hold our pencils correctly.

We also practiced tracing and printing small lines.

All of the students worked so hard.

Mme Godin read a book about bus rules.

We are practicing to say "Bonjour" and "Au revoir" and repeating "Est-ce que je peux aller aux toilettes s'il-vous-plait?"   (May, I please go to the washroom?)
I had the students print their names on the first day of school to put in their learning portfolio.

They also drew a picture of themselves.

Learning all about circles "les cercles".  The children each have a tennis ball in their personal bin so that they can actively participate on the SMARTboard  without spreading germs.

As you can see it was a very busy week.  I asked the children what their favourite thing about school was this week.  Here are some of the answers...

- playing on the structure
- playing with the toys
- playing outside in the field
- learning new french words
- learning to count in french
- meeting new friends
- playing on the SMARTboard
