This Week in Kindergarten!

Our first day back after Spring Break and we are preparing for grade one.  The boys and girls are practicing to copy a sentence on the line.  They must remember to leave a space between words and to put a period at the end of the sentence.  They also drew a picture to illustrate the sentence.

We continue to work on correct letter formation, printing letters from top to bottom.

And we have completed our number booklets.

Every day we read our friends' names on the SMARTboard.  During this activity the children were identifying and circling the names of students who were absent from school.

We have been practicing to "read" some simple words such as "le, la, les, un, une, c'est, voici".  These are words that we often see when singing songs and reciting poems.  On Monday, I wrote the word "lundi" on the board and this little boys was very excited to show me the word "un" in the word lundi.  BRAVO!

And during play time, this student pointed out the word "les" in one of his classmate's names.

A number matching game on the SMARTboard.

Playing a math game with dominos.

Exploring colour mixing with these very special glasses.

Alphabet puzzles.

Practicing our new spring words.

We have been brainstorming ways that we can help planet earth in preparation for Earth Day on April 22nd.  The boys and girls love these video clips "Les aventures d'écolo-fille".   Écolo-fille is a super-hero who wants to take care of her planet.  She must decide if things that are thrown on the ground belong in recycling, composting or the garbage.

International Day of Pink!

Wednesday, April 11th marks the International Day of Pink.  It is a day where communities and schools across the country, and across the world, can unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop all forms of bullying.

The staff and students at École Assiniboine are encouraged to wear something that is pink to school on this day.

Merci!
