Modes of transportation - Les moyens de transport

Please take some time over the next few weeks to practice the new transportation vocabulary.  I will add a similar slideshow on Seesaw for the children to practice after Spring Break.

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO ACTIVATE YOUR SEESAW ACCOUNT IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO AS OUR SCHOOL DIVISION IS USING THIS PLATFORM FOR CONTINUED LEARNING AFTER THE BREAK.  ALL INFORMATION REGARDING SEESAW, ALONG WITH YOUR PASSWORD IS IN YOUR LEARNING PACKAGE.

As always let me know if you need any help or have any questions.

This Week in Kindergarten!

This has been an incredibly different and exhausting week.  We started off with 9 students in the morning class and continued to learn about different modes of transportation.  At the same time, teachers were busy putting together work packages, making videos for the SEESAW app and attending many staff meetings.

We continued to work on number formation.

The 7 boys and girls from the afternoon class printing the number 8.

These three students wanted to build a house for a leprechaun (un farfadet), not a trap to catch him but just a cozy little house for him.

With Mme Godin's help we used some inventive spelling (printing the sounds that we hear in a word) and wrote "La mazo du farfada" (La maison du farfadet).

We made some pokey pin leprechauns.

The leprechaun must have found the house because he left his hat and some green glitter on our table.

The rest of the week we had mostly 4 students in the afternoon class.  The children drew pictures of a mode of transportation.

The morning class' modes of transportation.

On Thursday, these two little boys switched the arrow to the first official day of spring.

We ended of the week making dominoes, enjoying extra play time and playing all by ourselves on the SMARTboard.

Making leprechauns (les farfadets).

The morning class' leprechauns.

The afternoon class' leprechauns.

Practicing to print the letter O.

The boys and girls met our new friend "Bee-Bot" this week.  He is a little robot bee that the children must program to move through mazes by using the arrows on his back.  We also have to count how many times he moves forward and which direction he has to turn.

The boys and girls are exploring coding with this little guy.

The children are looking forward to sharing this experiment on colour mixing with their families.

We continue to explore the parts of a tree, the uses of trees and the seasonal changes that occur to trees.

Matching images to the letter that they begin with.

This Week in Kindergarten!

We continue to explore colour mixing.  We made some samples of how to make secondary colours as well as how to make colours lighter (clair) and darker (foncé) for our portfolios.

The children also practiced printing the number 7 in their number booklets.

We also started a new letter booklet focusing on letters with curves and lines.

Rolling the die to see which team would be the first to cover the clover (le trèfle).

Practicing to read our story crowns for Conferences next week.  "À l'école Assiniboine, j'aime..."

Both the kindergarten students and the grade 5 students look forward to each day 6.

That is the day of the school cycle that we get to play together.

This little boy is teaching his grade 5 friend how to play the math game 1, 2, 3 CRAQUE.

One of the benefits of having our grade 5 friends play with us is that we can build taller structures.

Challenging our grade 5 buddy to a game on the SMARTboard.

They are learning so much from the older students.

I love to hear the older students encourage the younger children to use their new French words.

One of the grade 5 students was drawing pictures for the younger students to colour.  And just like that another week is over in kindergarten!
