This Week in Kindergarten!
We started off the new week by decorating the first letter of our names. |
The boys and girls used stickers, feathers, sequins, etc. in order to make their letters beautiful. |
We continue to learn each other's name. Everyone's photo is on the whiteboard along with their names. We also continue to use the slideshow on my SMARTboard to further develop this skill. |
Our red dot Qtip names are hung up in the classroom. |
Learning new French words. |
Together we name the item and then the child clicks on the picture to see if there is a yellow square hiding behind it. |
This week we colored "les carrĂ©s” squares. |
Trying so hard to color neatly inside the lines. |
We started to practice our blue poem. |
The children listened to a special song to celebrate the first day of fall! We also started to discuss the changes we are noticing outside during this new season. |
More subitizing games on the SMARTboard. |
Tracing the numbers from 1 to 5 and placing the correct amount of stickers on each finger. |
Tracing and forming curves. |
The morning class' letters. |
The afternoon class' letters. |

This Week in Kindergarten!
This was a very different first week of kindergarten for Mme Godin and all of her classmates.
When we enter the classroom, the children put on their indoor shoes, place their Take-Home ziplock bag on the table and hang up their jackets and backpacks on their chairs. Everyone has an envelope with their name on to store their masks if they are wearing one and need a mask break.
We are practicing to say "Bonjour" and "Au revoir" and repeating "Est-ce que je peux aller aux toilettes s'il-vous-plait?" (May, I please go to the washroom?)
I had the students print their names on the first day of school to put in their learning portfolio.
Learning all about circles "les cercles". The children each have a tennis ball in their personal bin so that they can actively participate on the SMARTboard without spreading germs.
We have been practicing social distancing and using our own personal supplies.
We explored many of the toys and games in the classroom.
We started off the week bringing individual bins of toys to our tables. Mme Godin would then sanitize the toys and we would choose a different bin.

As you can see it was a very busy week. I asked the children what their favourite thing about school was this week. Here are some of the answers...
- playing on the structure
- playing with the toys
- playing outside in the field
- learning new french words
- learning to count in french
- meeting new friends
- playing on the SMARTboard
