This Week in Kindergarten!
Mme Swampy was back to share new stories and facts about her indigenous culture. |
We are focusing on the 7 teachings. I am going over all of the information in French with the students and we will further develop this theme in late spring before our school's Treaty Day. |
Practicing to print the letter T. |
Our grade 5 "Play Buddies" joined us again on day 6. |
It is so interesting to watch new friendships develop. |
Together they are helping each other explore classroom materials in different ways. |
Everyone is engaged and eager to play together. |
We also practiced printing the number 1, coloured the number 1 neatly, added 1 dot on a ten frame and drew 1 apple on the tree. |

Winter Concert Information!
The room 12 kindergarten concerts will take place on Wednesday, December 11th in the school gym. There are 2 performances. The first concert is in the afternoon at 1:00 p.m. and the second one is in the evening at 6:30 p.m.
Kindergarten students may attend one or both of the performances. All of the morning kindergarten students who attend Assiniboine Children's Centre will join my afternoon class for the concert with one of their daycare leaders. Any other families from the morning class wishing to attend the afternoon concert should drop their children off at the kindergarten classroom between 12:35 and 12:45 p.m. and return to get them immediately after the concert as afternoon kindergarten classes will resume after the performance.
All students attending the evening performance should be at the school at approximately 6:00 p.m. so that the concert may begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. The classroom and gym doors will only open at 6:00 p.m.
The boys and girls are asked to wear nice clothing (no specific colours) on the day of the concert. Cultural attire is welcomed as our winter concert is about holiday celebrations in our community and around the world.
The children will remain on the risers for the entire concert which should last approximately 40 minutes.
There will be a silver collection at the door for charity and a bake sale put on by the Parent Council after the concert.
Please let me know as soon as possible if your child will not be attending one or both of the concerts. Send me an email at marguerite.godin@sjasd.ca
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Mom's Pantry Pick Up!
Important Dates!
This Week in Kindergarten!
Once again, it was another short week at school. |
We started the week off reconnecting with our "Play Buddies" whom we had not seen for a few weeks because of inservice days. |
It is very exciting to see the interactions between my kindergarten students and their new grade 5 friends. |
Together, they continue to explore all of the games and toys in the classroom. |
And they also help each other out. |
Building with Lego continues to be a favourite activity. |
As is the K'Nex. |
And the marble run. |
Building a larger Lego town. |
Working quietly together, to create books and drawings. |
Playing with the cars, trucks and trains. |
Imaginative play at the dollhouse. |
As well as in the kitchen area. |
And building cooperatively with the large Lego. |
This is Mme Swampy. She is an indigenous teacher for the St. James Assiniboia School Division. She has been visiting our classroom to teach us about her culture. |
We have begun learning about the Seven Teachings. Each of these little animals represents a virtue intrinsic to a full and healthy life. |
We just barely fit in some time to start our number printing booklets at the beginning of the week. |

SHOW AND TELL REMINDER!
Important Dates!
This Week in Kindergarten!
Another short but very busy week in kindergarten. |
The children remembered all of Monsieur Joseph's four super-hero strengths. |
We played a name game and broke out into groups of four to make our own 8 count dance steps. |
The afternoon class finding their personal space so as not to touch anyone. |
"Copycat" was one of our super hero strengths. |
Isolation activities. |
And the name game with the afternoon class. |
Before practicing to print in our letter booklets, the students had to trace the letter L in the sand. |
They also took turns forming the letter L on the Handwriting Without Tears magna doodles with a big line (grande ligne) and a little line (petite ligne). |
We also practiced forming the letter L on the whiteboard and we had to circle all the upper-case and lower-case Ll's that we could find in our booklets. |
Hard at work printing the letter L. |
Playing some Math games on the SMARTboard. |
Friday was our last Hip Hop class. |
The boys and girls did a super job! |
We got to put all of the dance steps that we learned together for a special jungle dance. |
We learned so many new things. |
We will all really miss our time with Monsieur Joseph! |
