This Week in Kindergarten!

This week we started Discovery Bins.

Discovery Bins contain a variety of materials set up on the tables in the classroom.

As soon as the children enter the classroom they are readily engaged in activities before our school day starts.

By the end of the week the students will have completed all four tasks.

September 30th was Orange T-shirt Day!

It was fun to see so many orange shirts in the classroom.

The afternoon class building structures with cubes.

Creating with Lego.

Tangrams.

And mini pegboards.

Some more fine motor activities.

Practicing to name the objects in the classroom.  The children name the object with me, then they click on it and it disappears from the screen.  If there is a yellow square behind the object we say "Bravo!" and we start a new slide.  If there is no yellow square, we say "Désolé" (sorry) and we try again.

Cutting and gluing things that belong in our backpacks.

Practicing scissor skills.

Rolling the die and adding the correct amount of feathers (les plumes) on the turkey (le dindon).

Working in our colour booklets.

And lots and lots of play time.

Sharing toys and classroom space with our friends.

Building with straws and connectors.

And creating at the art table.

These two little boys were counting the K'Nex pieces in French during Play Time.  BRAVO!!!

The afternoon class loves to use the mini stapler and make books for their families.

Imaginative play at the dollhouse.

Lego and puppets.

And a turkey feather math game.

Mme Godin forgot her iPad in the classroom but wanted to share with you that today was our turn on the structure.  Monsieur Charrette and I let the morning class play an extra 15 minutes on the structure after recess and the afternoon class had the structure for an extra 15 minutes as well.

Mme Godin also got to explore the structure and it was lots of fun!!!
