This Week in Kindergarten!

We started off the week practicing for our End of the Year Celebration of Learning!  I will send more information closer to the date.  Please remember that this special concert takes place in the kindergarten class on Friday, June 21st at 10:15 a.m. for the morning class and 2:00 p.m. for the afternoon class.

Preparing our special hearts for Friday's Treaty Day.

The children chose and coloured one of the animals from the 7 teachings.  They also made a pattern with the small hearts surrounding the animal.  We planted these special hearts in the grass next to our blankets on Treaty Day.

On Tuesday, the morning class participated in the Bus Ridership program again.  The afternoon class will be doing so at a later date.

We went over the bus rules again.

Practiced jumping off from the back door emergency exit.

And lined up away from the bus.

The boys and girls drew beautiful springtime trees.  We used the bottom of a juice bottle to add pink flowers.

We practiced printing the letter X.

We did morning announcements outside on Treaty Day.  As you can see the wind was very cold!

We gifted our indigenous guests with tobacco to thank them for sharing their teachings with us.

All of the school signed a treaty, which is our school mission.

We also planted our hearts in the ground by our blankets.

The morning class attended a dance workshop.  Wayne is explaining to us all about his traditional dance.

Many, many hours of tiny beadwork.

Both the morning and afternoon class participated at the planetarium station with Mr. Rocky.

The afternoon class had a drumming workshop with Mme Burdeniuk.

We also recited the school mission and signed the treaty.

Placing our hearts in the garden.

All of the children in the school made a heart.

The children drew some of the animals from the 7 teachings at the craft station.  We ended off the afternoon singing the Buffalo Calling song with entire school on the middle of the field at the back of the school.  It was a super fun way to end the month of May.
