This Week in Kindergarten!

Richelle Scott (North Star), one of our school division's indigenous teachers, visited our classroom on Tuesday.  She spoke with us about treaties.  We practiced a new song called "The Buffalo Calling Song" which we will sing on Treaty Day.

Working in our "All About Me" booklets.  We have been talking about our community, our city and our province.  We found some of our houses on Google Earth.  There were many students in the classroom who were unsure of the name of their streets as well as their house numbers.   Please remember that it is very important that your child knows his/her address for safety reasons.   Take some time to practice this important skill with your child.
Printing the letter V.

The boys and girls also circled all of the upper-case and lower-case Vv's.

Practicing our new spring vocabulary.  The boys and girls have to ask the following question:  "Est-ce que c'est derrière (and add the name of the object they want to look behind)?"

Adding sets of circles.  We are still practicing correct letter formation as well as checking for number reversals.

Matching letter sounds to the spring words.
Creating with the bristle blocks.

The boys and girls play with the Magna-tiles every single day.  Due to their popularity, I have ordered two more sets for next year's kindergarten class.

Not only can we draw in the classroom but the children also have access to clipboards, paper, pencils and sidewalk chalk at recess time as well.

Enjoy the long weekend!!!
