This Week in Kindergarten!

Mme Page was at our school with us for one last week.  She played some games with the children to find the number that comes before and after a given number.

I observed the students working alone to see if they could show me 5 different ways to make the number 5 with our problem solving activity from last week.

The boys and girls also drew a person during Learning Centres this week.

We practiced printing the number 4.

And Mme Page taught us a new game called "Splat!" First, we had to count the number of dots on the SMARTboard.

Then Mme Page clicked on the board to see if we were correct.  The correct answer appeared on the top right corner of the screen.  Together we said:  "3, 2, 1, SPLAT!" and a black blob covered some of the dots.  The children had to figure out how many dots were under the SPLAT.

We were able to check our answer by clicking on the SPLAT to see how many dots were hiding under it.

The children continue to use the Handwriting Without Tears materials to make people.  It is very exciting for me to hear the children name the body parts in French during Play Time.

These boys decided to use the magnetic lines to build a person.

Practicing our letter sounds.

We used the magnetic lines to make the letter N.  We also formed them in the air with our magic pencils and erasers.  Then some of the students came to print on the whiteboard.  And finally everyone printed the letter N in their letter booklets.

Hard at work printing the upper-case N (N majuscule).

Mme Heather from la DREF ( French library for teachers at l'Université de Saint-Boniface) spent the day reading books to the entire school today.

Mme Godin's morning class joined M. Charrette's class to listen to some wonderful stories.

A book about a green monster.

The afternoon class also enjoyed all of the books that Mme Heather shared with us on Thursday.

There were many indoor recesses this week.

On Friday, the boys and girls brought their "stuffies" to school.

The children enjoyed playing with their "stuffies".

Our "stuffies" also went to Phys. Ed. during the afternoon.

They also enjoyed snack time.

As well as creating at the art table.
