This Week in Kindergarten!

This week the children took turns programming Bee-Bot to find specific letters of the alphabet.

The students continued to explore Bee-Bot during Play Time.

Practicing to print the letter Q.

We have been busy learning about primary colours (les couleurs primaires).

We discovered that when you mix 2 primary colours together you can make a secondary colour (couleur secondaire).

The boys and girls really enjoyed this activity using absorbant paper towels.

The children checked often during the day to see if the colours were soaking up the paper towels and leaving drops of water in the empty middle cups.

They were so excited to see the results the next day.

Practicing to print the number 7 (petite ligne, grande ligne), small line and a big line.

Hard at work in our number booklets.

Getting samples for our Portfolios.  This little boy is tracing carefully around the clover (le trèfle) tracer.

Turning the paper and cutting slowly along the lines.

This student is very proud of his cutting skills.  He is looking forward to showing his parents during the Celebration of Learning later this month.

The boys and girls love this song about "les couleurs primaires" on Mini TFO.

Mélange le jaune et le bleu (mix yellow and blue).
Voici le vert!

A sample drawing of a person for our Portfolios.

We ended off the week learning about modes of transportation.

An artist sharing her work.

One of our all time favourite play areas, the Lego center.

This Week in Kindergarten!

This week was extremely short and filled with fun Voyageur activities.  The children have been listening to Voyageur stories about Paul, Suzanne and their family.

Playing a Voyageur tic-tac-toc.

Practicing to name the letters of the alphabet very quickly and in French.  Whenever there is a tuque with Hé-Ho!, the children raise their arms up in the air and yell Hé-Ho!

On Wednesday's Voyageur day, the children sang Voyageur songs and played the drums and spoons.

Waiting patiently to play the spoons "les cuillères".

Monsieur Lacroix (who retired from teaching last summer) came to visit us in the music room.

A game of Voyageur bingo.

Voyageur games in the gym.

Tug of war.

Canoe races.

"Le portage" - the voyageur carrying their supplies across the river.  The boys and girls had to walk slowly so as not to fall in the river.

Who is the strongest Voyageur?

Making Voyageur necklaces.

Mme Laura showed us her special mukluks.

We used beads to create flowers and animals on paper.

The boys and girls also made Voyageur bracelets.

And we ended off the week playing this fun Voyageur game.  The Festival du Voyageur is on until Sunday.  Check out the website at festivalvoyageur.mb.ca  if you are interested in attending with your family.

Hé-Ho!

Thank you!

Thank you to the parent council who have gifted the kindergarten students with a special treat as they do not eat at school and therefore do not participate in the Festival du Voyageur pancake lunch until they are in grade one.  This special gift is in your child's ziplock bag.  I have asked the children to check with their parents before eating the gummies.

Merci!
