This Week in Kindergarten!

This week the boys and girls practiced printing the letter C.

As part of our transportation unit we are learning about objects that float (flotter) and sink (couler).

Mme Donna came for her last visit.  The boys and girls were very excited to see what their clay bowls looked like after being fired in the kiln.  They were very hard and breakable like a real bowl.  We call this product bisque ware.

The children were hard at work glazing their bowls.

We had to move carefully from table to table in order to use different colours of glaze.

Mme Donna explained to us that the colour of the glaze will be very different once she fires our bowls in the kiln one last time.

We had to be very careful not to glaze the foot of the bowl.

The afternoon class hard at work.

There were 5 students who were absent from school on the day that we made our bowls out of clay.  Mme Donna looked at the children's designs that they had created on paper.  She made their bowls for them.  Mme Donna explained that when 2 artists work together this is called collaboration.  The children were able to glaze these special bowls on Wednesday with the rest of the class.

There were also a few students absent on the day that we were glazing.  Mme Donna will come get them to complete their projects with one of the other classes in the school, one day next week.
