Outdoor recess!

www.123rf.com

Please make sure that your child is dressed according to the weather as we go outdoors for recess unless it is raining very hard.

The boys and girls are not allowed to play on the wet, muddy field unless they are wearing their rubber boots.

Thank you for understanding!

Please remember to check all labels for "May contain traces of peanuts and tree nuts" as we have children in the class with severe allergies.

Nutella is a hazelnut spread and should not be sent to school either.

Thank you!

This Week in Kindergarten!

Early this morning, Mme Godin found the classroom expectations.

I also had the table groups ready for the children.

Our beginning of the day routines.

The boys and girls' names were placed on the carpet.

And the tables were all ready for our new friends.

BONJOUR LES AMIS!

Lining up to go outside.

Mme Godin went over the steps for when we have our first fire drill sometime in the next few weeks.  We also looked at the different places that we can play when we start recess on Monday.

Our very first snack time.

Exploring the marble maze.

Playing with the new garage.

The doll house.

What should we make with the Play-doh?

Imaginative play in the house area.

Puzzles and sorting activities.

The afternoon class ready to go outside.

We also went over fire drill practice and where to play safely on the playground. I will be outside with the students during recess most of next week to make sure that they are transitioning well with the rest of the students from the school.

Snack time!

Play-doh cookies!

Building with small lego.

The house area.

Discovering all of the things that we can make move in the garage.

One little girl was watching her classmate's puppet show.

Trying out the Lite-Brite.

WE HAD AN AMAZING FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN.  ALL OF THE CHILDREN DECIDED THAT THEY REALLY WANTED TO COME BACK ON MONDAY for our first full week of school!!!

Welcome To Room 12!

This is our school, École Assiniboine.  The boys and girls who take the school bus or come to school with Mom or Dad will line up on the pavement at the back of the school behind the number 12 that is painted on the pavement.  We will also line up at this same spot after each recess.

When the bell rings, Mme Godin will come get the students and we will all walk to the classroom together.  The children from Assiniboine Children's Centre will walk to the classroom with the daycare staff at the start of the day and will be picked up at the classroom door at the end of the day.

Mme Godin's classroom is room number 12.

You will find your name on one of the cubbies in the room when you come to meet me during Opening Day Conferences.  This is where you will hang up your jacket and backpack.  You will also put your outdoor shoes on the black trays under the cubbies.  Your indoor shoes will be kept in one of the cubbies above the hooks.

Everyone will have their own square to sit on during carpet time activities.

You will also find your name on one of the four round tables in the classroom.  This is where you will explore Discovery Bins, complete some work activities and eat your snack.

We will do many group activities at the calendar.

We will also start off the day at the SMARTboard singing songs, playing games and learning new French words.

There is a bathroom in the classroom as well as a water fountain.

There is a sandbox and a water table.

We have small Lego and lots of bigger Lego in bins.

A grocery store and a cash register.

The house area.

There is also a large bin of dress up clothes.

Lots and lots of wooden blocks as well as a work bench.

A puppet theatre with many different puppets.

There are also many other toys and games to explore.

This is our classroom tree.  You will get to see many changes occur to the tree throughout the school year.  There are so many other centres and toys waiting to be discovered when you come to school in September.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you!  Enjoy the last few days of summer holidays!

Mme Godin

Bonjour and welcome to kindergarten!  Thank you so much for visiting my blog.

Your child will be learning and experiencing so much during his/her time spent at school.  I will be using my blog to help build a community that links home and school and as a way to document, communicate and celebrate all of the learning experiences that take place in kindergarten during the school year.

Please use the blog posts as a prompt to engage your child in conversation about school.  Ask your child questions such as "What was happening here?", "Tell me about this activity.", "Can you tell me who you were playing with?", etc.  By doing this, you are communicating to your child that you are interested in what he/she is experiencing and discovering at school.

Remember if ever you have any questions or concerns give me a call (204-885-2216) or send me an email (mgodin@sjsd.net) and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support!  I look forward to sharing our learning with you!
