Valentine Discovery Bins!
Playing a lower-case alphabet bingo game.
Adding the correct amount of linking hearts to the numbered cards.
Placing the correct hearts in the mail boxes.
Playing a memory game.
The boys and girls were given the task of designing a valentine envelope.  They had to make sure that it would be big enough to fit 16 cards (a.m.) and 18 cards (p.m.).  It had to be beautiful and they had to print their names on the envelopes with a marker.
Some of the materials the children used to decorate their envelopes.
Once the students could show me that they had made an envelope, they could start to decorate.
We tested our envelopes by putting our hands inside to see if our cards would fit in.  Some of the boys and girls needed assistance when putting glue, tape or staples on the paper so that they did not glue, tape or staple their envelope shut.
Everyone did a great job decorating!!!  Now we are waiting to fill them up on Tuesday.  DON'T FORGET TO SEND YOUR CHILD'S VALENTINE CARDS TO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY!
Showing the number 5 on a ten frame.
Showing different ways of making the number 5 (1 and 4), (5 and 0), (3 and 2), etc.
The boys and girls filled the mailboxes with the correct hearts as well.
Printing the letter O.
We have been learning about primary colours (les couleurs primaires).  We mixed colours with paints and we also did a fun experiment with food colouring, water and paper towels.
The children watched all day to see if the primary colours absorbed on the napkins were going to make new secondary (les couleurs secondaires) colours in the empty middle cups.
By the end of the morning/afternoon, everyone was amazed to see the new colours filling the cups.
Today we noticed even more water in the cups and saw the colours mixing on the paper towels.
