Outdoor Recess!

Just a quick update on outdoor recess.  The kindergarten and grade 1 students will now share the structure on days 1 and 6 at all recesses.

The kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 students will use the outdoor toys found in the cart on days 1, 3 and 5.  Hopefully this will give the younger students more opportunities to explore the materials during outdoor play.

Outdoor winter clothing vocabulary!

Please take some time over the next few weeks to practice these winter clothing words.  I will be adding a second winter slideshow soon.

This Week in Kindergarten!

All of the students were eager to wish their classmates a Happy New Year (Bonne Année!).   We started off the week playing a new alphabet game.

Practicing to form the letter F in the mini sandbox as well as on the magna doodle.

Printing the letter F in our letter booklet.

Learning a new poem about the colour purple (violet).

Les raisins sont violets (the grapes are purple).

Circling the core of the pattern (le motif).

The afternoon class working in their colour booklets.

Counting the number of buttons on the snowmen.

Practicing to print that tricky number 2.

And lots of play time.

It was so much fun to talk and play with all of our friends.

The children have been building really long train tracks this week.

Making chocolate cakes for Mme Godin.

Creating a marble run with a friend.

Imaginative play at the doll house.

All in all, the children transitioned back to school easily, happily and ready to learn!

Please remember, no pets or anything valuable or fragile as they may become lost or broken.
YOUR CHILD SHOULD ONLY BRING ONE ITEM (NO COLLECTION OF THINGS) AND ONLY ON HIS/HER SHOW AND TELL DAY.
Due to the large amount of children in each group, if your child is absent or forgets his/her Show and Tell, he/she will have to wait until the following week to bring an item to school.

A big thank you to the parent council for providing the school with the funds to buy outdoor equipment for winter recesses! Now if only it can warm up so that we can try out the new shovels, footballs, molds, toboggans and sliding carpets.
